Well, uh... hmmmm. LEGO really does want to make their own stuff, huh?

The game's currently in early access: http://store.steampowered.com/app/332310/

It's basically Minecraft but for LEGO. It's easier to build and is currently only for single player. Multiplayer is on their roadmap.

Best played with a controller like all other LEGO games. The game's targeting the younger generation, as usual.

It's not like LEGO Universe. This one's focusing all on the building and creations. You don't get the MMO or leveling up feels. You don't really have an inventory either. Once you unlock the items, vehicles, creatures, and sets, you just need to buy them. That's it. You keep everything you have.  + Infinitely generated world

    + Build anything

    - No RPG

    So, I…

Whew, had me there for a bit, Unity. I'm glad you made a comeback against Unreal Engine 4.

    http://unity3d.com/get-unity/download?ref=personal

Unity 5 is now released for everyone to access and download.

The "Free" version of Unity is now "Personal." You now get all the features of Pro with the limitation of the Unity splashscreen when you run the game. There's also the revenue thing but we don't care for our purpose.

I recommend everyone to download Unity 5 Personal and mess around with it.

This is actually a rather old score (I think I had intended for it to be used in LNA!) that I transferred from an XML file into Sibelius First, resurrected from the dead, and finished up. I'll probably end up lengthening it so it's no longer one minute long, but it sounds pretty cool. Listen to it here.

I've been hiding in a cave, isolated from everything all my life and now i've returned and i have no idea how MasterOshowatt got here.

I've been thinking about working on java script again as a new year's resolution, maybe even try Unity. I've been thinking about modelling as well.

I have no new concepts. Surprisingly enough.

My art skills are very good now, so if you want me to draw something i can.

    LDD Stuff

    November 8, 2014 by BrickfilmNut

I understand that there will likely be a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to seeing LDD screenshots in a project for LEGO game-making, and I even felt a bit disgusted uploading these images. I can't just render every concept that comes to mind, though, so LDD it is unfortunately.

Not all of these are necessarily things I think will fit in LDD, and a lot of these still have imperfections or are at very basic stages. The point of this blog is mainly to perhaps inspire something or lead to a discussion; some of these designs, if popular, could work their way into the game, or perhaps you guys will be able to take something I failed at and turn it into something brilliant. :P Anyway, on with the blog.

Trying to work with small scale beings, especiall…

Since the whole "Sharing Progress" thing is not as necessary now that we've been reduced to a handful of members, I figured I'd just put my progress here. It's not as cool or helpful as what Allen's progress has been, but I'm trying my best to make some headway.

I made a short-legged minifigure for characters like the dwarves and shorter ice monsters (provided we're still doing the latter). It was made with Allen's Minifigure 34 as a starting point, so the legs themselves would probably have to be transferred over to whatever the current model is, but hey, now we have it. :P

Took LeoCAD's book piece and modified it/added to it so that all the normals are good, it has interior detail, etc. Some detail may be able to removed further if the tri…

So... yeah... it's been quite a while. I've been praticing more modeling and this is the result.

30+ hours in? I forgot. It's pretty much a very very long time.

The models I made are based on the anime Sword Art Online.

On a more serious note related to game design and 3D modeling:

When you play it, you should be aware of what's actually there. For example, you see the middle 3 squares on the fountain here. Are they actually there or just an illustion? Because in game design, you have to decrease the poly count to make the game run smoother. I can't possibly risk having a 30K high poly water fountain in a game like this (Yes, I made one and it's over 30K poly) This water fountain in the game only has 766 poly compare to the 30K. I modeled b…

I mentioned this guy to BrickfilmNut a few times but i think i know i guy who could do some music for us (other than Mvp). He has lots of techno music and he's a good friend of mine. He's on rock raiders united and yes, he did play LEGO Universe.

    Music Examples:

    "Icicles" (Icy themed music)

"Life on Mars" (Quicktech space themed music)

    "Tropical" (Tropical themed music)

"Xalax" (Alien themed music, based on the LEGO Racers 2 planet Xalax, includes what probably is Rocket Racer yelling, or just a generic character)

Comment if you like this guy's music. If you want him to help us out with the music just ask me and i'll go ask him if he would like to help.

    Reignition

    June 11, 2014 by Jeyo

So as everyone active here knows, I once started on a model called the X-Pack. It was my first complex Lego model. I modeled the bricks and assembled the bricks in blender. Everyone thought it looked great. Even I thought it looked great. With my ability to model any standard brick from a single 1x1 and then assemble them in a precise, accurate way, I would have been able to do almost anything in regards to making worlds. But as time went on, there were two small but glaring problems that were constantly nagging me.

    1. My model was composed of bricks I had made from a 1x1. That 1x1 I had traced from a diagram/blueprint/thing. And while I had traced it to the best of my ability, the brick that came out of it was not completely accurate. That di…

    New approach.

    February 18, 2014 by NuffSaid

Since we are making little progress, why don't we see if we can change things... I heard that we want this game to have a good story and have good, rich gameplay, yet playing as a character you had created also. So, one thing only a few games have is the abundance of creativity. Going beyond "shoot'em ups" and sticking to a theme that everyone will enjoy. Steampunk/Sci-Fi. Now hear me, out. I've been rejected so many times about this... But image that we can take a basic story then manipulate it to make our own and maintain a good game. Basically what LU did. And, let's face it. Who doesn't want giant airship battles? So in this I want to say, let's throw away what we did before and try this!

Today is January 30th, 2014. Exactly 2 years ago, LEGO Universe was closed. I can't believe it's already been 2 years. I remember when groups like The Nexus Project, LEGO Wonderlands, and all the other projects that pretty much just failed, including our own. We were the ones who sticked together and are the ones who are left now. I find it to be really amazing that the end of one game actually brought us together. So I guess, in a way, the end of LEGO Universe was a good thing. Otherwise, I could have never meet you all.

    Hey!

    September 30, 2013 by Jeyo

Jeyo again. I'd like to bring up the point of work going unnoticed or unacknowledged by team members. This has been the pattern so far:

    1. I post some work.
    2. Nobody says anything about it.
    3. I prod people to post their throughts.
    4. A few do.
    5. I get frustrated.

Sure doesn't seem very team-like to me, posting my work and having it ignored...I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to be acknowledged. I like people to post their thoughts on stuff I submit. I need criticism, or else how will I know if I'm going in a direction people like? Seriously, it gets quite frustrating for me when I post something and nobody takes any notice. Even when I nudge people, only a few post stuff. So can we all agree to inspect, acknowledge and comment on someone's work (n…

    The Head of the...Worm?

    September 20, 2013 by Jeyo

I know this is really Deus's area of expertise, but I thought I'd give this a go...

I hope you're reading this, Kep. Based on your description, my rough concept art (that I haven't posted) and Storm's design of the smaller worms, I have designed a head for the Sandworm Boss on the desert world. If everyone approves, I will continue and create the body. If you don't, I can redesign or scrap it. It has no eyes, but instead a long head that can swallow a minifig whole, three teeth in its gaping red maw and several long, tentacle-like "feelers"--whiskers, if you will--on the back of the head. Thoughts so far?

    Word of Wisdom

    September 17, 2013 by Legomattster

I've been taking a look at some of the other projects' wikis, namely LNA, and I was suddenly hit with a revelation that was right in front of my eyes the entire time.

LNA and most other fan-made projects have been trying to launch a game with a boatload of features out of the gate. That's great, except when the few developers that we have dabble in and out of certain tasks, getting each item barely started. Then, we'll rethink everything because it's not getting done fast enough, and all that work goes to waste. I, at least, have seen that happen over and over again.

Now, I'm not back here trying to tell you guys what to do; I'm just sharing a thought. What am I trying to say with all of this rambling? Simply, keep it simple. Don't worry abo…

    Inferion Discussion

    August 31, 2013 by BobaFett2

I only recently brought this up but I have been having some misgivings about how the current Inferion is envisioned. Currently, Inferion are essentially minifigures in armor. That would make more sense to me if, say, they were an army of evil minifigures...but they're not. They're beings of energy, created by Korrigahnn, a being of energy.

I have no problem with the idea of a minifigure enemy, but I do feel that it makes little sense for Korrigahnn to create minifigures to fight minifigures. It seems more like he'd create a horde of fire/shadow/whatever elementals who are roughly shaped like minifigures. The way I currently see them is as mostly immaterial beings with solid hearts (gems of a sort?) in the rough shape of a minifigure...kind …

Sure, we could make an amazing game...but what does this mean. I don't want us to die because we're been shadowed by this, but still...

Alright, so far, we don't seem to be having too much conflict surrounding the single-member-led worlds. That's good, for sure. Of course, there are still situations like in the hub world where our writers will clash on certain aspects of the story. Our head writers, Jeyo and ErkelonJay (with Mvp and Atom siding with each writer respectively), will have two clashing ideas that both seem equally good to a large part of the community, but neither will step down and that's where conflict begins. As such, we have to improvise the system a little bit again. Nothing major, in the sense that everything will change for all of you, but important enough that I would like all of your attention.

The first change is that, unless facing strong opposition …

Hey guys, is me. So, I've been busy for the past 2 days brainstorming about the final battle with Korrigahnn. So, without further ado, my ideas:Note, this is not complete, and will take some time to finish. I expect to go all the way to a verison 5.0.

Recently, three users (Mvp, Keps, and Erk) have stated that they will consider leaving if the project does not regain activity. In response to these concerns, I have made the following blog post.

First off, not everybody is as inactive as they may seem. A lot of us are just working on our own separate yet still project-related things, and don't always feel the need to talk about them. Of course, this problem could be solved with increased use of the Sharing Progress page, but even if some users do not use it, you can usually be sure that at least some seemingly-gone users are still "active".

Okay, there has been a lot of debate about this and I think it's time we settled it.

Do we include the alien commander known as Krohoth/Oblivion, who will betray Korrigahnn and steal the energy stone for his own? Or do we not, in which case the game will be easier to make but only have Korrigahnn and his boys as the main enemies? (There will be minor enemies not affiliated with either, too: pirates, animals and other enemies like that.)
